30 Day Challenge Day One and Two

“Daddy what is a niche & why are you looking for them?”… from my son

Well it’s actually day three.

Amazing content as usual. If you did not know anything about niches, niche research, where to go what to do… you do now. If you think you know all there is to know about niche research you will still learn  from these lessons.

The resource pdf’s were excellent sources and will be something to keep near by beyond the thrity day challenge. Happy to see Shopping.com was included, it has given me more than one good niche.

Getting the niche right & the seo is the sink or swim. I have often lept before learning or completely researching a niche, sub-niche. Don’t make that mistake. This part is crucial.

This part in the side bar of day two is extremely critical. At least it has been for me. It was the first thing I stuffed up in earlier challenges.

Handy Tip – Your ‘theme keyword’ describes the overall theme of the website you will create, and the ‘category keywords’ describe the different categories of information contained in your website. The ‘theme’ and ‘category’ keywords should be semantically related and should meet the page and traffic competition criteria. (SEOT>80, SEOC<30,000). This is an important distinction to understand. Semantic Keyword Research is something to look at.

Today is all about search engine optimization & the SEO Matrix.

Off to the lessons.

It’s amazing what people can do with wordpress themes these days.

They can look like statics sites, sales pages, squeeze pages cpa landing pages. You name it. There is a theme or plugin for almost everything.

This theme called wiggle emulates a google design with it’s blog psot and ads. An interesting design.

Squeeze Page Templates & List Building

Squeeze Page Building Your Subscriber List

One of the many mistakes I made when starting out was “failure to capture subscribers”.

For years I sold “info” products, websites, affiliate sites and so on at ebay. Eventually I opened an ebay store & sales took off. The cross merchandising function for auctions (related products from my store could be displayed at the bottomof all my auctions/products) really gave things a boost.

I missed out on capturing BUYING customers by not having a capture form on thank you pages, by not having a free gift link in auctions and in my store. Not to mention possible related sales from suggesting companion products on the thank you page and emails. A simple form to alert people to new items or hot deals could have done wonders.

If you are selling your own product or affiliate products you need to capture subscribers who may want more information. Hot deals list, newsletters and so one are great ways to do this.

An account with Aweber or Get Response will easily pay for itself as you build your list and deliver them quality content along with gentle recommendations to affiliate or your own products. If you go the newsletter route remember they want a newsletter not a sales pitch from every contact with them.

A list of 10,000 subscribers is an awesome thing. No seo or ppc to reach peole already prequalified to some extent for your products & expertise. Naturally not everyone will even open your email or click a link inside but a certain percent will and a certain percent will buy.

This can be done for any niche be it on bearded dragon lizards :) or marketers looking for tools and resell products.

Capturing the Lead

For these example I’m going to use stuff from the IM niche… products like PPC ebooks, Guides, Templates, Scripts, Link Cloakers, Membership Scripts and the like. For this years challenge I will be doing the non recommended, copmetitive, saturated & incestious IM niche. I have never done this in the 30 day challenge. I the past it was things like Bonsai trees, container gardening, Exotic pets… and thats what I recommend. Much easier than the “Sleazy Traditional Email List Internet Marketers” niches as Aaron Wall of SEO Book so mistakenly noted as he painted everyone who sell an ebook with the same tainted brush.

So…

Your going to need a squeeze page and an autoresponder. The auto responder service will provide the code to capture leads and automatically respond to them once or with a series of emails like an ecourse etc.

For video you will need to make one and upload it to YouTube or host it on your own domain using a flv player. You can find these free just google it. To edit the video Windows Movie make found on most windows machins will work fine.

Squeeze pages run the gamut from Double Your Dating simple test squeeze page to the gaudy ones. Video squeeze pages are very popular now and convert well. Frank Kern & the Stomper Net crew have excellent ones, as does the thirty day challenge and Paul Myers.

Lets look at some examples.

Ways to build your list with squeeze pages

Giving away a free report or limited sample of your info product through your site, forum signatures & free ebook sites (google these) is effective. My first list of 1,200 came from a forum sig and a listing in the free ebook section of a forum.

Giving away a product your niche can use to resell or build their list. These reports can also be made viral by including some of your links in them. This has worked very well for me. Offering admission to a free members area like http://tomdean.net works well.

Using a squeeze page to gain access to your product sales page can sometimes be very effective when done right.

Adding a squeeze page to your thank you (download) page for product updates, newsletter etc.

I’ll be posting a direct download of some squeeze pages for you in the Resources page of this site in a day or two. I will also post a link to a nice package I can’t give away but the price will be dirt cheap :) this one will include some nice vertical squeeze pages designed to be used in the sidebars of blogs or can be pasted into a sidebar widget. It’s quite nice.
