My Kids Are In The Challenge
My Daughter (14) & my Son (8) are going to be in this years Thirty Day Challenge!
How cools is that? They are both pretty web savvy for their ages with gmail addresses and their own igoogle home pages.
Steffi has a small adsense farm from a few years ago that brings in a small residual income (not what it used to be) and Thomas has ebay experience – auctioning off his old Power rangers etc and a little ebay affiliate site in his favorite niche lol. He is quite the little writer for his age especially on the subject of halo his favorite Xbox 360 game.
You can see them here at work (from a few years ago). They have a budget for ppc if needed for this years thirty day challenge.
I will be explaining the challenge & lessons to them as we go along.
They have already done a little keyword research and chose a niche that they both like. It will be a tough one but since they like it and chose it I hope it will keep their interest peaked.
The site below is theirs. They chose the domain name and paid for it. They added the content with some supervision. They chose the WP Theme and are working on their own unique header. Even little Thomas can login and post a picture or video – he is 8yrs old – thats just cool!
I showed them how (also made a video for them to refer to) then THEY posted the content, pics and videos – they even searched YouTube and picked them out.
Can you tell I am proud of their start with this. It’s just amazing what kids come up with. They both love to doodle and they thought why not have a site where “doodlers” can upload their doodles. They even have a very talented doodler lined up (from school) to be a guest blogger and post his doodles.
Well I am rambling on but this type of stuff just gets me excited. I never new google had a doodle competition with a 10,000 prize open to kids called doodle 4 google Steffi pointed that out to me from her “research”.
They are really doing this and will be watching the pre-season stuff with me explaining in their terms.
So… wish them luck and show them some link love! They will need it with the niche they have chosen lol but they may have a chance to get a sale in 30 days.
The point of the whole thing is to increase their entrepreneurial spirit that already has a healthy start for their age.
