Lets Get Ready To Rumble! Eve of The Thirty Day Challeng

Thirty Day Challenge Day 11Here it is Day #11 of pre-season and the eve of The Thirty Day Challenge. It officially starts tomorrow (it may be tomorrow in Australia right now). This thing is HUGE – 8,000 people have signed up I have heard.

You may notice we have went from Day #7 to Day #11. That’s because the 8th & 9th was the weekend and we had Homework! Get out and do some niche research & we did. The 10th had no post. I was trying to find a decent avi editor and avi to swf converter. Nearly drove me mad. I finally succumbed to buying a good one from Comp USA for doing some YouTube videos(it’s also itunes/ipos/iphone compatible). The rest of the day was spent playing with the Flip camcorder we picked up when we were out and tending to my regular business duties. You can read a blog post about the Flip here. The little palm sized all digital recorder is a blast.

So far I am up to speed with the tools and techniques. Our team seems to be faltering a bit with communication even though we have a Facebook group setup, they all have not joined yet.. Maybe when the thirty day challenge starts proper we will begin helping each other. I had no idea how big & how useful Facebook is. This video will show you their unbelievable reach.

The YouTube Video Challenge is on & some amazing videos are coming from it. I threw in the towel on this – these are way above my level.

Why am I doing the challenge & why am I blogging it?

  1. First and most important I need to learn the latest and this is the place to learn it (for free). I have learned tons in just a few days that will enhance the way I do business. You can’t be a one trick pony these days, at least not for long. I had never heard of Facebook or Scribe Fire or Bloglines (talk about being out of touch). These tools and more are being incorporated into my business flow now. The viral power of YouTube alone is staggering.
  2. Second I want to be able to pass the experience on to my subscribers and encourage them to join.
  3. Third I am writing a report on “Buzz Word Blogging” and among others this blog is part of the research. Note - I did not make this blog to earn money off participants! It’s purpose is to record my experience with the challenge for myself and others to learn from and reference at a later date. That said I felt it should be included due to the size & buzz of the challenge and I only have one other blog being used in the IM Niche as part of the research.

Since the question will be asked by someone… here is how the blog is doing. I used a tool picked up from the challenge JingProject to make an on the fly video about it’s current position for the search phrase Thirty Day Challenge. The video barely took longer than it’s run time.

My Thirty day Challenge

Here is the link to watch it > MyThirtyDayChallenge.com search phrase position. The blog has earned $317 in mostly affiliate sales from the orange adsense looking ad strip. Some sales were to a membership site (hopefully recurring sales).

No great shakes but much better than adsense earnings of some the other blogs being researched and the orange ads are the only ads on the blog. No affiliate links are in the post – this blog is barely monetized.

Unique visitors are around 160 to 300+ daily (just imagine The Thirty Day Challenge traffic!)

Just the pre-season has opened my eyes to things some of my sites are lacking. Things that could greatly increase traffic and profit. I definitely have my work cut out for some sites after the challenge.

From what I see, if i don’t get these particular sites up to speed they will falter sooner than later even in a very targeted niche.

I can’t wait to get started with the challenge.
