ebay Inspiration – Buzz Light Year
The pdf Ed Dale put up about the ebay auction with an incredible amount of views and bids for a common pack of Pokemon cards has inspired me to try something similar.
You can read the pdf of the auction here ebay story pdf (opens in a new window).
What happened is I stumbled across a story in my garage.
Earlier this summer I told the kids that they had to “clear out” their room of toys they no longer wanted. They have, well anything they have ever wanted from a Dad that spoiled them to compensate for being at work all the time.
But Daddy is retired now and has become Mr.Daddy so... things were going to change (easier said than done). Anyway I walked into the garage to check out what they had thrown in big plastic storage containers and there he was Buzz Light Year (my sons). His head poking out from underneath a pile of discarded stuff, one arm over the edge of the container as if he was trying to climb out.
It made me think of the day that Woody another character from Toy Story (my daughters) was sold at our garage sale we had. I almost did not put him out on the table. I loved that movie and my daughter had loved Woody. When you pulled Woody’s string he would say “Your my favorite deputy. My daughter thought he was saying “your my favorite Stephanie” (her name) she was three back then.
Ironically almost like in the movie a kind of sleaze ball looking guy smoking a cigarette bought Woody from our garage sale. I regretted that sale wishing I had just kept him and given him to a young child.
Here favorite toy of all she has kept through the years.
It’s stashed away in a shoe box in her closet.
Now years later there is Buzz setting in the pile. My son saw Toy story two and loved Buzz Light Year having a great time playing with him but he has long since been replaced by newer toys from TV.
Here is Buzz in his box.

He still works perfectly.
So the plan is to do a video interview with Buzz and put him on ebay along with his story and see what happens.
With a good headline, a YouTube video and maybe a little web2.0 luvin he will get a few views.
Wish him luck!
Tom
