Building Your Subscriber List

Arrive here from a search for free squeeze page template? Just click here to get the one pictured to the left. It will be in our free members area & includes Private Label Rights. Want a bunch of really nice ones you can use & resell? Click Here

One of the many mistakes I made when starting out was “failure to capture subscribers”.

For years I sold “info” products, websites, affiliate sites and so on at ebay. Eventually I opened an ebay store & sales took off. The cross merchandising function for auctions (related products from my store could be displayed at the bottomof all my auctions/products) really gave things a boost.

I missed out on capturing BUYING customers by not having a capture form on thank you pages, by not having a free gift link in auctions and in my store. Not to mention possible related sales from suggesting companion products on the thank you page and emails. A simple form to alert people to new items or hot deals could have done wonders.

If you are selling your own product or affiliate products you need to capture subscribers who may want more information. Hot deals list, newsletters and so one are great ways to do this.

An account with Aweber or Get Response will easily pay for itself as you build your list and deliver them quality content along with gentle recommendations to affiliate or your own products. If you go the newsletter route remember they want a newsletter not a sales pitch from every contact with them.

A list of 10,000 subscribers is an awesome thing. No seo or ppc to reach peole already prequalified to some extent for your products & expertise. Naturally not everyone will even open your email or click a link inside but a certain percent will and a certain percent will buy.

This can be done for any niche be it on bearded dragon lizards or marketers looking for tools and resell products.

Capturing the Lead

For these example I’m going to use stuff from the IM niche… products like PPC ebooks, Guides, Templates, Scripts, Link Cloakers, Membership Scripts and the like. For this years challenge I will be doing the non recommended, copmetitive, saturated & incestious IM niche. I have never done this in the 30 day challenge. I the past it was things like Bonsai trees, container gardening, Exotic pets… and thats what I recommend. Much easier than the “Sleazy Traditional Email List Internet Marketers” niches as Aaron Wall of SEO Book so mistakenly noted as he painted everyone who sell an ebook with the same tainted brush.

So…

Your going to need a squeeze page and an autoresponder. The auto responder service will provide the code to capture leads and automatically respond to them once or with a series of emails like an ecourse etc.

For video you will need to make one and upload it to YouTube or host it on your own domain using a flv player. You can find these free just google it. To edit the video Windows Movie make found on most windows machins will work fine.

Squeeze pages run the gamut from Double Your Dating simple test squeeze page to the gaudy ones. Video squeeze pages are very popular now and convert well. Frank Kern & the Stomper Net crew have excellent ones, as does the thirty day challenge and Paul Myers.

Lets look at some examples.

Long copy sales page squeeze – Paul Myers has one of the very best news letters available. His content generally blows away any $47 ebook you may have. I am suprised he does not charge to be on his list. So while your there you should go ahead and subscribe. His is the best newsletter I have evr subscribed to. have a look at this pr5 squeeze page. http://talkbiznews.com/ You need some copy writing chops to pull this type off. Notice he has an optin form above the fold, in the middle and at the end.

Video Squeeze Pages – How about the thirty day challenges? Very nice. http://thirtydaychallenge.com all above the fold.

Stompernets Video Squeeze – I could not find there squeeze page online but it was similar to this having an optin form to the right instead of links to more videos. While yor there this is Great Content well worth watching http://www.stompernet.net/goingnatural2/

Frank Kerns Video Squeeze Page – Mass control went off the ricter scale. A video squeeze page was the pre launch sign up & pitch. I could not find it online.

The Simple Video Squeeze Page – http://mythirtydaychallenge.com/Mind-Control/

Simple Text & Graphic Squeeze - http://mythirtydaychallenge.com/Free-Squeeze-Page-ebook/ >>> You Can optin in on this one if you want to get the squeeze page & report with plr rights from our free membership site at http://tomdean.net

Simple Free Report Squeeze – http://mythirtydaychallenge.com/Special-Report/

Simple Text Squeeze – The Double Your Dating squeeze page is probably one of the most copied squeeze pages around. Can’t find it online but here is an example of a simple text squeeze page – http://mythirtydaychallenge.com/Free-Simple-Squeeze/

Ways to build your list with squeeze pages

Giving away a free report or limited sample of your info product through your site, forum signatures & free ebook sites (google these) is effective. My first list of 1,200 came from a forum sig and a listing in the free ebook section of a forum.

Giving away a product your niche can use to resell or build their list. These reports can also be made viral by including some of your links in them. This has worked very well for me. Offering admission to a free members area like http://tomdean.net works well.

Using a squeeze page to gain access to your product sales page can sometimes be very effective when done right.

Adding a squeeze page to your thank you (download) page for product updates, newsletter etc.

Get a sampling of easy to edit squeeze pages

I’ll be posting a direct download of some squeeze pages for you in the Resources page of this site in a day or two. I will also post a link to a nice package I can’t give away but the price will be dirt cheap this one will include some nice vertical squeeze pages designed to be used in the sidebars of blogs or can be pasted into a sidebar widget. It’s quite nice.

A look at a squeeze page funnel

Cheers,

When doing affiliate marketing you will want to cloak or redirect your ugly affiliate links.

Here are several ways to do this including our quick free desktop software for cloaking/redirecting links.

You will need to be able to upload (ftp) a file to your domain to do this. Links to the webs best free ftp software & a tutorial are included in this post.

First here is a quick video on using our affiliate link cloaking software. The download link is right below the video.

Free Affiliate Link Cloaker

http://mythirtydaychallenge.com/LinkCloaker.zip

As shown in the video we have converted our affiliate link from:

http://digiweb.bryxen4.hop.clickbank.net/

to…

http://mythirtydaychallenge.com/Keyword-Elite.htm

&

http://mythirtydaychallenge.com/Likes-Keyword-Elite.htm

Another way to do this is to use an online cloaker like this one:

http://sparechangeprofits.com/plr-cloaker/

The nice thing about this one is you can use it from anywhere you have an online connection and even if the site disappears it will still work.

http://tinyurl.com is another online cloaker but the site will need to be up & active for your links to work.

To use an ht.access solution which works quite well see this online tutorial http://afreelinkcloaker.com/ the tutorial can be downloaded from the top nav bar.

Here is a simple php redirect code that is reliable. Simply copy and paste this code in notepad then save as index.php > make a folder on your domain using filezilla such as Likes & upload the file to the folder. Replace the url >http://tomdean.net< with the url you want to redirect to.

<?php
header( ‘Location: http://tomdean.net’ ) ;
?>

Here is an example in use:

http://mythirtydaychallenge.com/Likes

Below are the download links for Filezilla & the tutorial on using it.

Download Filezilla

http://filezilla-project.org/

Filezilla Tutorial

http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/documentation/

One last thing… if you don’t want to pay for a software program that tracks our links like this one Link Cloaker with Tracking

you can use google analytics or our favorite Clicky a free service that will track one domain and includes a wordpress plugin to use on your blog that makes things super easy.

Here is a screen shot of the Clicky Dashboard (note to track Twiter links you would have to upgrade to a paid account $4.99 monthly).

Hope this helps,

Cheers – Tom

Here is a short video on using the google external keyword tool to do some quick research “before” you make a blog post.

If you blog and use the all in one seo plugin for Wordpress you can get some quick keywords to paste into the keyword section of the plugin. You can also use the best search to competition keyword to use as the page title (title tags) and in the blog post.

As an aside the post titled handwritten signature generator is on the 1st page of google for the search term “handwritten signature generator” no quotes, not that it does this blog any good. This is mostly due to the keywords & title tags. Google shows stats of 92 searches a month for this term. There were 102 uniques to that post in 5 days…

Anyway using the right title and description is important in how your post appears in the index. See how that one apperas below.

I’ll get the squeeze page post up tommorow. Just wanted to get this up since everyone will be posting away soon.

Well all the preseason training has been viewed. I skipped a few I’m already versed on. Our group Accountability partners has 14 members and a facebook page with a little activity. Looks like most members are fairly experienced. Hopefully there will be more interaction as the 30 day challenge proper kicks off.

Still fooling around with niche ideas or maybe applying this years challenge to an existing profit stream.

Really thinking about applying this years 30dc to*GASP* Internet Marketing as in selling resell products to people looking for resell products like PLR (private label rights), ready to sell MRR (master resell rights) products etc.

Here is an example. There is no live buy button on these pages… just an example of a solid resell rights product that can typically be picked up for very little.

Dynamic Copywriting

Dynamic Copywriting with Resell Rights

Dynamic Copywriting Article Adsense Site (drives traffic to sales page).

These type of products that can be resold still have a decent search volume and do sell although competition is pretty heavy & the market seems to be a bit incestuous. However with the number of people coming online looking for make money products there is still a decent market.

How to type products and videos sell well. Templates & squeeze pages sell well, list building products sell well. Wordpress themes paticularly with plr sell well. You can imbed your links in the footer and give them away.. instant backlinks.

Building a subscriber list (email marketing) can be very effective. Giveaways of genuinely useful tools with info on how to use them can be used effectively by giving them a viral element.

Anyway something to look at.

In the next post there will be a link to download a solid pdf on making effective squeeze pages along with a squeeze page and how to use the product to list build. This will let you see the process in action. No worries, no optin to get it. Just an example of a viral list builder.

Not much activity in the group or on the forum yet but it is still early on in preseason especially for those that have the tools already setup. When we get closer to the kick off and 30 day challenge T.V. things will move very fast.

Well still slowly moving through the preseason training. A new basic lesson on setting up ypour facebook account was posted today in the preseason training area.

Like last year I’m going to go by the book with the 2009 training & not use any of my resources other than hosting my own site & the ones the 30 day challenge provides. Picked up market samurai last year so that will be used. I will be using TweetDeck instead if Seesmic … just personal preference.

If you are new to the challenge I do recommend following the training exactly as presented.

Played around with some cool Firefox addons for twitter today. You can get them below. They are pretty slick. I don’t think the twitter add ons were discussed in the preseason vid but I like them

Power Twitter – https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9591

Instant Tweets – Instant Tweets – Twitter Extension for Firefox

Delicious Bookmarks – https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3615

You can search a ton more here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/

Cheers,

It’s preseason for the 2009 30 Day Challenge !Like every year since 2007 I will be blogging about the 30 day challenge and my experience.

This year I’m going to try & go with a completely new niche. At the same time apply the 30dc training to an existing niche and site. Last years challenge & tools particularly the Market Samurai allowed my latest site to achieve some excellent organic search results, a pr3 and 150 (very targeted) daily uniques… 3 months out of the box. It’s not even nearly fleshed out yet.

Getting solid basic seo information has been extremely helpful. There is a ton of misinformation out there that can wreck your site before you even get started. The 30 day challenge gives you solid proven and tested techniques. Just using a few of these has given me some excellent results. Squidoo, Twitter, Facebook Pages, Weebly, On page SEO and just some minimal back-linking got things rolling pretty quick. You Tube and Viddler helped achieve some good results in first page listings.

The most successful sites I have are NOT in the “make money online” niche. I dabble in that niche & do ok but it is far easier to succeed in a non IM niche. A lot of people buy an ebook whose true purpose is to be resold for profit and fall into the mmo niche… trying to resell get rich info products to others. Unfortunately many never move on and either achieve marginal success or simply fail.

Not saying you can’t do well there, many do & a few do extremely well. Some membership sites I have do pretty good but it is a time consuming effort unless you have a partner or outsource.

So…

I look forward to seeing you in the forums, on friend feed and maybe even on a team.

You can learn more about it here 30 day challenge

See you inside,
